After his pioneering work in the healthcare services in the region, Sanjoy Ghosh went to address the developmental work in North East India. His initiative of protecting land erosion on the banks of river Brahmaputra, with the people’s participation was revolutionary. Displeasing ULFA, an armed militant organization in Northeast Indian states, Sanjoy Ghosh was abducted by ULFA on 4th July 1997 and was killed the next day.
